What's the difference between a pole building and a pole barn?

There isn't much difference between a pole building and a pole barn. Pole buildings is simply a term for a pole structure not used to house farm animals. Pole buildings usually have concrete floors and serve as storage for large vehicles, fabrication shops, over-sized garages, etc.

Pole barns have a tendency to be designed for the housing and care of farm animals, such as horses. Pole barns usually have dirt or gravel floors and may lack insulation, heating & cooling systems, plumbing, etc.

Should I have a concrete floor in my pole building?

To determine if need a concrete floor in your pole building, you'll need to consider what the building is being constructed for. If your pole building is meant for large heavy equipment and a high amount of foot traffic, then pouring a concrete floor would make sense. If you're pole building is being constructed to store agricultural equipment and supplies for long periods of time with minimal foot traffic, you may be able to save on construction costs by opting for a gravel or dirt floor instead.
